Indoor air quality diagnosis

Service aimed at managing the environmental quality of buildings and closed spaces

Daily activities cause people to spend a large part of their time inside buildings and interior spaces. Pollution of indoor environments in buildings can cause health problems.

Air quality can decrease due to various factors, such as bacteria, viruses, mites, chemical compounds from different dyes or varnishes, or even our own breathing. Also, thermal variations and the increase in indoor relative humidity can cause condensation and proliferation of fungi and mold. Therefore, the failure to apply adequate ventilation measures can have harmful effects on health. One of these measures to ensure indoor air quality is to run proper air renewal cycles.

For this reason, the University has an expert research group in this area that is in charge of making a global diagnosis of the indoor air quality of homes or workspaces. It applies different measurement and sensorization technologies, and offers advice to implement the necessary corrective measures.

This service is aimed at public entities (schools, hospitals, residences, etc.), companies (work offices, restaurants, etc.) or individuals interested in knowing the quality of the air in their home.

Our experience

The research group collaborates with the Sant Llorenç des Cardassar Association of Affected Persons to carry out a study of the healthiness of the air inside the houses of the municipality. The objective is to extract a diagnosis of the current situation in order to implement prevention and intervention measures so that environmental conditions do not affect the health of the population.
