Support for the full participation of people with disabilities in all areas of daily life.
The inclusion of people with disabilities is a complex process since the different contexts, factors and variables involved must be taken into account. Disability, without neglecting its nature, is a concept that has evolved and we have ceased to understand it as a person that it is the core of the intervention and whose focus is only deficiencies and limitations. We have approached a perspective based on the relationship between the person's abilities and the context in which they develop. For this reason, we must focus the actions on improving the conditions of the environment and not only acting on the individual.
The UIB has a specialized team that makes available all its resources to ensure that people with disabilities have a presence and participate actively in society and on an equal footing. In this way, it aims to remove barriers that prevent them from accessing them. The main interventions are:
- Measures to facilitate the insertion of persons with disabilities into the ordinary labour market.
- Studies and advice to schools, institutions or companies that have to incorporate people with disabilities.
- Identify and eliminate barriers to accessibility and mobility.
- Guidance and support to teachers.
