2005 Use of phytate for water treatment
University researchers have patented a new method which states that the use of phytate inhibits the nucleation and growth of a divalent cation salts selected from Ca2+ and Mg2+ in the water. So, it is possible to avoid crystallization of calcium and magnesium salts, using very small quantities of the product.
The present invention aims to provide an alternative method, that allows avoiding the formation of precipitates in the water without modifying the mineral composition thereof.
In particular, the present invention relates to the use of myo-inositol hexaphosphate to inhibit nucleation and growing of the salt of calcium carbonate and other salts of a divalent cation selected from calcium and magnesium in the water.
This method provides an alternative procedure to avoid the modificació of the mineral composition of water.
The innovation of this novel method is the use of phytate to inhibit nucleation.
